MFU School of Medicine Participates in 2025 South and Southeast Asia Medical Education and Service Alliance Conference

On 1 – 2 December 2025, Assoc. Prof. Preecha Soontranan, MD., Dean, and Clinical Prof. Maj. Gen. Dusit Staworn, Deputy Dean for Education, the School of Medicine, Mae Fah Luang University (MFU), participated in the “2025 South and Southeast Asia Medical Education and Service Alliance Conference.” 

The conference was jointly organised by Kunming Medical University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, and Prince of Songkla University under the theme “Digital Intelligence Empowerment Shaping the Future Together—Building a New Paradigm of Regional Medical Education and Healthcare Cooperation.” More than 100 representatives from 19 Alliance member institutions across Thailand, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Myanmar, and China gathered to discuss regional collaboration in medical education and healthcare.

On this occasion, Assoc. Prof. Preecha Soontranan, MD. delivered a keynote lecture entitled “Integrating Health Plus Wellness in the AI Era: A New Paradigm for Medical Student Formation.” He also took part in the South and Southeast Asia Medical Education and Service Alliance (SSAMESA) Working Meeting to review the network’s annual performance and to discuss future collaborative directions with partner institutions. Representatives from 56 existing member institutions and two new member institutions participated both online and offline.

In addition, representatives from SSAMESA member universities engaged in panel discussions on key issues, including the promotion of faculty and medical student mobility and the development of innovations in medical education within South and Southeast Asia. These discussions aimed to advance future teaching and learning in the medical field. The conference also featured the presentation of more than 30 academic works, covering key topics in medical education and medical innovation, providing a platform for participants to exchange knowledge, stimulate new ideas, and further develop academic and professional expertise for the future.

The School of Medicine’s participation reflects the university’s collective efforts to enhance medical education, innovation, academic mobility, and international cooperation to promote sustainable regional growth and well-being.
