The Global Relations Division in collaboration with the School of Liberal Arts, successfully organised the “Thai Language in Daily Life” Course for new international students enrolled in the second semester of the academic year 2025.
The course was conducted from 26 January to 16 February 2026, comprising a total of 10 sessions delivered by lecturers from the School of Liberal Arts, led by Ms. Phimpawee Treesorn and her team. Developed as a pilot initiative, the course was specially designed to support international students in smoothly adjusting to campus life and academic study. A total of 25 international participants, including exchange students, took part in the programme.
The course focused on practical Thai language skills for everyday situations such as daily conversations, transportation, ordering food, and interacting with local communities. The objectives were to strengthen students’ communication confidence, reduce cultural and language barriers, and enhance their academic and social integration at MFU.
A key highlight of the programme was the strong peer-support system. Student assistants volunteered from diverse nationalities, Thai, Myanmar, Lao, and Indonesian students who actively supported participants throughout the course. Their involvement helped foster a welcoming multicultural learning environment and encouraged cross-cultural interaction and friendship among students.
According to participant feedback, students were able to order food in Thai, greet others, shop independently, and gain a better understanding of Thai culture after completing the course. They also reflected positively on the supportive learning atmosphere, highlighting the kindness of the instructors and the dedication of the student assistants.
The course reflects MFU’s commitment to “Internationalization at Home,” promoting inclusivity and ensuring that international students are well supported to live, learn, and thrive within the university community.
