MFU Ranked as the Four-Star Institution by QS Stars

    Mae Fah Luang University has been awarded four stars for overall rating in the latest QS Stars Rating System, released on 19 April 2021. In addition, MFU received the perfect five stars in two key areas: Facilities and Programme Strength (Doctor of Medicine Programme).

    The high scores for facilities (81 out of 100 points) highlight the appropriateness and sufficiency of MFU’s physical resources including hospitals, dormitories, library, sport complex, canteens, etc. Moreover, the Doctor of Medicine Programme has received five stars in the Specialist Criteria with the best-performing indicators including graduate employment rate; applications per place; student/faculty ratio; student satisfaction; completion; and internationally recognized accreditations.

    Along with its achievement in Facilities and Programme Strength, MFU received four stars for Employability; Innovation; Teaching; and Inclusiveness categories. Also, MFU has been awarded three stars for Internationalisation category and two stars for Research category.

    The President of Mae Fah Luang University, Assoc. Prof. Dr.Chayaporn Wattanasiri stated that MFU has been supported by the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (OPS) to undergo the evaluation of the QS Stars Rating. The President added that a four-star university must get at least 550 out of 1,000 points and meet three mandatory criteria: having at least 85 points in Teaching category; having at least two citations per faculty member and having at least 1% international students.  A typical four-star university is highly international, demonstrating excellence in both research and teaching. The institution provides an excellent environment for students and faculty.

    QS Stars is a rating system operated by the QS Intelligence Unit, the independent compiler of the QS World University Rankings. The system evaluates universities across a wide range of important performance indicators using 12 categories such as Teaching, Employability, Research, Internationalization, Facilities and Online/ Distance Learning, Innovation, Social Responsibility, and Inclusiveness. Universities are awarded with overall stars ratings along with specific criteria ratings, ranging from 0 to 5 stars, depending on the total number of points achieved. The evaluation valid for three years.

    Altogether, the global achievements reflect MFU’s commitment to be a world-class education and the University will put more efforts in the categories which needed to be improved in order to offer the high-quality education, research and internationalized activities.
