ERASMUS+ Programme

Erasmus+ Student Mobility & Recognition Process at Mae Fah Luang University

1. Overview

Mae Fah Luang University (MFU) actively participates in the Erasmus+ Programme, supporting student mobility for studies and traineeships in Europe and beyond. Erasmus+ provides MFU students with the opportunity to study at partner universities while ensuring that academic achievements abroad are fully recognized upon return.

2. Pre-Mobility Phase (Before Departure)

  • Nomination & Application
-Students are nominated by MFU and apply through the Erasmus+ partner institution.
  • Learning Agreement (LA)
-The student, academic advisor, and MFU’s Erasmus+ coordinator agree on a Learning Agreement for Studies (or Traineeship), which specifies the courses/modules to be taken abroad.
-The LA ensures that the chosen courses are academically equivalent and align with the student’s study plan at MFU.
  • Credit Transfer Confirmation
-MFU’s faculty pre-approves the transfer of credits under the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) and MFU’s internal credit system.

3. Mobility Phase (During Exchange)

  • Academic Progress
    - Students must follow the agreed Learning Agreement. Any necessary changes must    be approved by both MFU and the host university within the first month of the exchange.
  • Support & Monitoring
    - MFU provides academic and administrative support throughout the mobility period.

4. Post-Mobility Phase (After Return)

  • Transcript of Records (ToR)
-The host university issues an official Transcript of Records, listing the courses completed and grades earned.
  • Recognition & Credit Transfer at MFU
  • MFU evaluates the ToR against the Learning Agreement.
  • Successfully completed courses are fully recognized and transferred to the MFU student’s academic record.
  • The grades/credits are converted according to MFU’s grade conversion system, ensuring transparency and fairness.
  • Final Academic Recognition
  • Recognized courses will appear on the student’s MFU transcript as equivalent courses, contributing to degree requirements without extending the study period.

5. Commitment to Recognition

MFU strictly follows the Erasmus+ principle of automatic recognition of credits earned abroad when courses are completed in accordance with the Learning Agreement. This guarantees that mobility contributes meaningfully to students’ academic progression and graduation.
